Imagine the opportunity to bring your talent to a high-performing organization making a meaningful difference in the lives of men, women and children all across Chicago. We are one of the nation’s premier, nonprofit organizations dedicated to feeding hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community. We are dynamic, mission-focused, innovative, values-driven, diverse, focused, impactful and energetic. We believe in inspiring change and know change only happens when everyone has a voice and a place at the table. It starts by unleashing the joy and potential in each other and the people we serve.
Through the Greater Chicago Food Depository's (GCFD) paid internship program, interns have the unique opportunity to learn about the not-for-profit and food bank industry from Illinois’ largest food bank. Through hands on learning experiences, mentor-ship, executive-level interaction, and networking the Accounting & Finance intern will have the opportunity to learn about GCFD’s mission, values, culture, and commitment to quality programming, products and services. In turn, the intern will be able to showcase their unique talents and cultivate their skills. GCFD will work with the intern to design a program that fits both the organization's and the intern's needs and is sensitive to the intern’s school schedule.
The Accounting department is an integral part GCFD and interacts with all facets of the Food Depository. As an Accounting intern, some of the items you may work on or have exposure to include:
• financial reporting (board and management reporting), benchmarking and key performance indicators (KPIs)
• annual audit testing & documentation
• documentation and development of new business processes related to our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system conversion
